Above is an image of the 18z GFS model at 252 hours which finished its run about an hour ago. On October 28th, the model is saying that a middle-of-winter type snowstorm will affect all of Pennsylvania and New York State with at least 6-12 inches of snow. Remember, the 18z run of the model is notorious for this kind of nonsense, and I am not predicting a single flake of snow until sometime in November, but I thought for you snow-lovers out there that I would put this out there because it is the first time the GFS has showed snow now since last April. So I am forecasting nothing in the way of snow toward the end of October, but it is still interesting to see the GFS forecasting a major snowstorm this early in the season. Could this mean something for winter? Well, we'll just have to wait and see... This is Junior Meteorologist (Storm Tracker) Kyle Elliott reporting for the AKStormtracker Forecasting Center!
