Daily Weather Pattern Discussion...5 Storms in 8 Days and 2 Snow Threats?

Hello this is Junior Meteorologist Kyle Elliott with our daily weather pattern discussion...and we are in for some very active weather over the next 7-10 days as multiple storm systems will affect our area with either rain/snow or both combined. The first storm will move through today and tonight with mostly rain as I thought yesterday...although we did about a 15 minute period of moderate sleet this morning. Overall, though, all rain will fall from this system as it just grazes our area with thick clouds and moderate rainfall late this evening. The second storm will move through tomorrow into tomorrow night with light drizzle or flurries...nothing big to worry about at all. I have to disagree with my colleague in that I do NOT think northern PA will see anything but a few flurries to a dusting...no surprises with this storm. The third storm will move through on Friday and Friday night being an all-rain producer with maybe a flake or two on the backside...again, nothing out of the ordinary. But that will not be the case with the fourth storm as more cold air will be in place and the storm is currently forecast to track further south...although the latest run of the GFS model suggests a track into the Great Lakes again. I have to disagree with the latest run of the model, but we will have to wait and see. Personally I think we will see some light accumulation of snowfall out of Sunday and Sunday night's storm before precipitation turns over to just plain rain. Details are still shaky with this storm...so I will have to fine-tune them over the next 2 or 3 days. The fifth storm, which I am seriously doubting will even happen now, was forecast to develop on the coast as a cold airmass is usshered in behind Sunday's storm. Although the possibility is still there that a storm could develop, it is looking less and less likely as the cold airmass should push any remaining storms and precipitation out to sea before they even get into the Carolinas. After that, we will be emerged in a bitterly cold airmass from approximately January 2nd through January 6th before a spring-like warm-up in the middle of the month. By then, temperatures could rise the whole way into the 50s and even 60s daily for our region...ahhhh what a treat! I do not doubt that that happens, although I doubt if highs will be that far above average, although temperatures will be significantly warmer than they should be. So at any rate, we are in a very active and wild pattern right now which will stay with us for at least a week or so before an arctic blast followed by a taste of spring...so that's about all I have for ya'll today, so hope ya'll have a great rest of your afternoon and evening and I'll talk to ya'll tomorrow! If you have any questions on this forecast or would like to know my forecast for the weather in your area of the country for any day in the next two weeks or less, please, feel free to e-mail me at akstormtracker17@yahoo.com or kyleae@earthlink.net!
