Daily Weather Pattern Discussion...To Snow Or Not To Snow: That Is The Question!

Hello this is Junior Meteorologist Kyle Elliott with our daily weather pattern discussion...and things are really starting to heat up on the models now as far as the Sunday night storm goes. The main question in my mind is this: To Snow Or Not To Snow...that is my question. As ya'll well know, it has not wanted to snow in our area for some time now, but could things change late this weekend? Well that remains to be seen, but at this point it does appear as if central and eastern Pennsylvania will get some sort of snowfall accumulation...just how much falls, though, still remains a tough call. I think a general 4-6 inch accumulation will be found across central and northeastern PA, while 3-5 inches is found toward the Mason/Dixon Line in the south. These shockingly are still very very rough estimates as each model shows a different solution, but they are safe and moderate forecasts for now, so I think I will stick with it at this time. Here's what's going to happen with the storm anyway...a low pressure will form along a stalled out front in the Gulf of Mexico and ride north through the Carolinas. It should then exit off Virginia Beach, VA, and move NNE or NE ward off into the Atlantic Ocean and up the East Coast. Moisture should be thrown back into our area, producing moderate precipitation...here's where the problem comes in though. Temperatures are marginal for snow, and the rain/snow line is very close to our area, causing me great concern that we may see a decent bit of rain mixing in with the snow...at least at the onset. As the storm intensifies and cold air comes into its center, though, rain should quickly change over to snow resulting in light to moderate accumulations across our area. The problem is, and should remain, just where the rain/snow line sets up and how it affects accumulations for our area. That's about all I want to venture to say for now, so hope ya'll have a great rest of your day and I'll update again later this afternoon! If you have any questions on this forecast or would like to know my forecast for the weather in your area of the country for any day in the next two weeks or less, please, feel free to e-mail me at akstormtracker17@yahoo.com or kyleae@earthlink.net!
