1:30 P.M. Winter Storm Update...Finally, SNOW!

Hello this is Junior Meteorologist Kyle Elliott with a 1:30 P.M. Winter Storm Update...and it is literally snowing to beat the band here around the York, Lancaster, Hanover areas in south-central Pennsylvania...and the good news is that the heavier bands are still to our southwest. The only thing that concerns me greatly is that sleet has begun to mix in with the snow across Washington, D.C. in the last 20 minutes or so...but Baltimore still remains heavy snow along with areas west of there through Martinsburg, WV. I think the changeover line right now runs from Warrenton, VA, to Bethesda, MD, to Bowie, MD, to Annapolis, MD, to Wilmington, DE, to just south of Philadelphia. Anyways, it should stay all snow here in the Lower Susquehanna Valley until at least 3 or 4 P.M. and could possibly stay snow through 5 P.M. if the upper-level cold air holds out for a little bit longer. Right now, we are nearly to a half an inch of accumulation here in York, and I still like my forecast of 2-4 inches for my area. Around Harrisburg, I think they will end up picking up around 3-4 inches of snow, and Allentown and Easton should pick up around an inch or two...although less could occur is the changeover occurs quicker. But at any rate, we look to be FINALLY seeing at least a decent snowfall here in the southern Pennsylvania...so that's about all I have for now and I'll update again around 3 P.M. Oh, and the Saturday/Saturday night storm looks like it could be a gut-buster. This has been Junior Meteorologist (Storm Tracker) Kyle Elliott with a special Winter Storm Update for the AKStormtracker Forecasting Center, in Storm Alert Mode!
