Daily Weather Pattern Discussion...Clipper Snowfall Map Analysis and Lake-Effect!
Hello this is Junior Meteorologist Kyle Elliott with our daily weather pattern discussion...and get ready for some lake-effect snow squalls tomorrow in our area as strong northwesterly winds will blow lake-effect snow squalls over the mountains and down into our area tomorrow morning and tomorrow afternoon! Most places will see only flakes and a few snow showers, but some isolated locations who get caught under a squall for 15-20 minutes or so could pick up a half inch to an inch of snow. So basically just be careful driving tomorrow as you could go from partly sunny skies to heavy snow in just a few minutes with visibilities of less than a tenth of a mile. Overall, though, this is not an event to dwell on by far, so that's about all I'm going to say on the lake-effect snow squall possibility. As far as my clipper snowfall map from last night is concerned, well, most of it held true, but there were some errors that I'm sure lots of you saw and that I will apologize for. Anywhere from a Chicago to South Bend to Dayton to Cleveland to Williamsport to Albany to Worcester line north, the clipper map held true for most and was a great success...but anywhere south of that line I far overdid accumulations. I apologize for my overdone 1-3 and 2-4 inch area south of that line as most people saw only a few flurries to an inch in those locations as warm air charged up from the south out ahead of the storm. So once again, I apologize for that bum forecast as I failed to realize just how much warm air was being pushed up in front of the storm. So overall, the map did fairly well, but I am sorry for the errors that occurred south of that line I mentioned earlier. So anyway, be careful driving tomorrow as I have mentioned the possibilities, and hang in there till around Saturday as by then warmer weather should be felt state-wide. Until Friday, stay bundled up as the coldest air of the season will be felt...but by late in the weekend and early next week, a major to possibly record-breaking warm-up could be in the makings as parts of south-central and southeastern Pennsylvania could reach the 60-65 degree mark by next Monday or Tuesday. So those who have been hating the cold (like myself), hold your heads up because a major warm-up is on its way! On the same token, for those who love cold and snow (like my colleague), don't get down because by January 15th or so, a huge pattern shift could be in store leading to arctic airmasses and maybe, just maybe, some nice snowstorms... So that's about all I have for ya'll for now, so hope ya'll have a great rest of your evening and I'll talk to ya'll tomorrow! If you have any questions on this forecast or would like to know my forecast for the weather in your area of the country for any day in the next two weeks or less, please, feel free to e-mail me at akstormtracker17@yahoo.com or kyleae@earthlink.net!
