Daily Weather Pattern Discussion...Milder Times Upcoming!

Hello this is Junior Meteorologist Kyle Elliott with our daily weather pattern discussion...and milder times are well on their way toward our area by tomorrow and Sunday as temperatures will climb to 50 degrees Sunday and possibly even as high as 60 by Tuesday and Wednesday. In the meantime, the storm system that produced the freezing rain and rain today across our area has exited central Pennsylvania now except for a few backlash snow showers...so don't look for more than a tenth of an inch of precipitation across any given area for the rest of the evening as most places see only about an additional 1/100 of an inch of rain/snow. Anyways, my forecast of .1-.25 inches of ice for the Lower Susquehanna Valley that I made last night came true to a tee as I saw reports vary from .08 to .4 inches of freezing rain. At my house, an estimated .18 inches of freezing rain fell before things changed over to plain heavy rain by around 11 A.M. this morning. A total of about 1.1 inches of rain was recorded in my rain gauge today, as my yard is now a sloppy mess with water everywhere. As the night goes on, winds should begin to pick up as ponding of water starts drying up as clear skies move in...eventually yielding to a mostly sunny day tomorrow with highs varying from the mid/upper 30s across the north and west to the upper 40s to near 50 in the south and east. Sunday will bring more of the same temperatures, except things should be just a few degrees warmer than they will be tomorrow. On Monday, slightly cooler air will come back as highs struggle to reach above 40-45 statewide, but that will be quickly erased on Tuesday and Wednesday as highs should reach the 50s statewide with 60s in the south and east. Spring fever baby!!! Anyways, after that storm system moves through next Wednesday, say goodbye to the warming for awhile as another cold shot moves into the area on the heels of northwesterly winds. Also, there is concern for an East Coast snowstorm sometime around February 8-10, but the details are far from certain on that storm yet as the models are doing the normal Cha Cha Cha as the 12z had the storm and the 18z has it weaker again. So here's what I think: let the models do the Cha Cha Cha, and by the time the storm gets here, I think the entire Mid-Atlantic and Northeast corridor could have a shot at the first decent snowstorm of the season. A bold call at this point, but it's definitely something to keep an eye on. So at any rate, stay dry this evening and enjoy the upcoming warm spell! That's about all I have for ya'll this evening, so hope ya'll have a great rest of your evening and I'll talk to ya'll tomorrow!
