Daily Weather Pattern Discussion...Spring To Come Soon?
Hello this is Junior Meteorologist Kyle Elliott with our daily weather pattern discussion...and sorry I haven't gotten anything posted on here the last few days, but I really have not been feeling well at all and have therefore not felt like doing much but resting. I am feeling somewhat better this evening, but not yet up to par, so this discussion will be brief as I'm quite tired again this evening. Anyways, as I said a few days ago, I have gone into "spring mode" now and am therefore going to talk to ya'll about the possibilities of SPRINGTIME WEATHER coming up over the next week or so. First, a bitterly cold shot of air will be felt across our area over the next 2-3 days as high temperatures will struggle to reach the lower to middle 30s over the next few days. After that, a clipper system will come down from Alberta but, unlike most clippers, will not bring a cold shot of air in behind it. Instead, this clipper system will act like a major warm front as much warmer temperatures are forecast to flood into the region by late this coming weekend lasting through the middle of next week. I'm not exactly sure just how high I'm going to forecast temperatures yet, but early indications lead me to believe that highs in the 60s at least could be felt over central and southern Pennsylvania by this coming Monday and Tuesday. So GET READY FOR SPRING as even if the middle 60s aren't felt, high temperatures in the middle to upper 50s are almost a guarantee. With warm March sun, temperatures will begin to feel much warmer and more springlike than the "brief winter warm-ups" have over the last month or two. So either way you slice it, I think and hope that springlike weather is on the way because I sure as heck could use some sunshine and warmth to bring me out of the funk I've been in recently. Anyways, the clipper on Friday, even though most think precipitation will fall as mainly snow, should only produce light rain/snow showers as surface temperatures should be not all that cold around 40. Even if by chance the clipper were to produce some light snowfall accumulations, I still do not think that would hinder the warming process as temperatures are going to be rising now over the next two months with more warm shots than cold spells. After the initial warm-up next week, I think a cold front will bring another shot of chilly, not arctic, air into the region for 2 days or so before another warm-up enters the area around March 9th. That will probably be followed up by another shot of chilly air but, if the latest GFS model is right, high temperatures could soar into the 80s by March 14th and 15th as a Bermuda high pressure system is shown pumping in summer-like air into our region. So as of now, I'm not exactly sure how and when the warm-ups will unfold, but I'm fairly confident that warmer weather is coming for next week and then again sometime during the week after that. So warm-weather lovers, keep your heads up as milder air is probably not very far away! And snow-lovers, well, don't look for much more to happen this year as I think winter is definitely starting to wind down. So that's about all I have for ya'll this evening, so hope ya'll have a great rest of your evening and I'll try to talk to ya'll tomorrow!
