Farewell To Winter...My Last Post This Winter For Sniffing Out Snowstorms!

Hello this is Junior Meteorologist Kyle Elliott with a farewell-to-winter post...and because I'm done sniffing out snowstorms and switching modes from winter to spring in approximately 10 minutes, I decided to post one last HYPE topic on the upcoming possibilities of winter storms. So get ready for some HYPE, because HERE I GO!!! Due to this being my last HYPE post, it going to be CRAZY folks...so time to let loose with HYPE! First, a storm system will enter California today and tomorrow and will eventually eject out into the central states this by late tomorrow evening. If this storm decides to take a track across central Maryland, heavy snows might just break out anywhere from central Pennsylvania on northward...but then again, the most likely scenario is for the storm center to track across northern Pennsylvania instead of Maryland. If it tracks across Maryland, though, heavy snows could form from I-80 on northward. After that storm exits, an arctic surge of air will be poised to take aim at the eastern part of the nation...setting up the perfect conditions for a possible storm sometime around Friday or Saturday of this coming week. If everything comes together perfectly, a major snowstorm could affect the entire I-95 corridor with 6-15 inches of snow or more...but at this time, 1-3 inches looks more like a good non-hype call. But the way this winter has gone, who knows what's coming next? At any rate, after that storm moves through, a major warm-up will overspread the eastern third of the nation as 50s and 60s take over for the beginning of March. AHH...SPRING...RIGHT? WRONG!!! As another cold front moves across the country around March 3rd, the latest 12z GFS model shows a line of thunderstorms pushing off the coast around March 3rd. On the same token, it sparks another major storm on the Gulf Coast and as the cold air races down to the coast, a MAJOR blizzard is shown for the entire area from Norfolk, VA, to Caribou, Maine. If this latest GFS model is right, 2-3 feet of snow would be common from northern Virginia to southern New York State...and I have to admit, even though I want spring, I got VERY excited when I saw this possibility! If this were to come true, it would be 1996 ALL OVER AGAIN BABY!!! Oh Yeah! Phew am I ever excited about that possibility...but I must admit, in 2 minutes now, I'll be much more excited about spring. After that storm goes through, the GFS shows more cold shots with snows and warm shots with thunderstorms, but those prospects are still way too far out yet, so that's about all I have for this last HYPE post this wintertime...so farewell to winter HYPE! At any rate, hope ya'll have a great rest of your afternoon and evening and I'll talk to ya'll later today as I post my first spring-mode topic! This has been Junior Meteorologist (Storm Tracker) Kyle Elliott with a farewell-to-winter HYPE post, for the AKStormtracker Forecasting Center!
