Weather Pattern Discussion...Warm Yesterday, Cool Today/Tomorrow, Then A Jump Toward Summer!

Hello this is Junior Meteorologist Kyle Elliott with our weather pattern discussion...and just as I had thought, temperatures did in fact reach very high levels yesterday across south-central Pennsylvania. I did not quite expect the warmth to surge into the mountains of Pennsylvania like it did, but it was a nice treat for the entire region. In fact, the highest temperature I saw in the state was actually recorded right where in live as the temperatures rose to 74 degrees in York, PA, yesterday. Simple spectacular! The severe thunderstorms that possibly could have formed yesterday simple did not until they hit the far eastern part of the state, but for those who did get the storms it was a wild ride! My colleague up in Easton said it was really wild with a drenching downpour and wind gusts to about 50 MPH with pockets of small hail in the region accompanied by violent thunder and lightning. But in reality, he was the exception rather than the rule yesterday across the state; but for those who like storms (like him...and myself, but I didn't see anything), it was a real treat where they did pop up last evening. Anyways, having said that, it is quite coolish for April standards today as highs are only in the 40s and lower 50s statewide as a cool high pressure system is over the region, but this cool snap will be short-lived as highs tomorrow afternoon reach the 50s statewide and warm 60s on Friday. After the rain and thunderstorms Friday, the sun will pop back out in full for the weekend as temperatures do not chill down this time behind the front. Instead, highs should continue to soar over the weekend through the entire first-half of April as highs should be in the 50s and 60s statewide with pockets of 70s in the south-central and southwest every single day. So warm-weather lovers, YOUR TIME HAS COME!!! And let me tell ya'll, I couldn't be more happy. The last cold-weather concern that I see actually comes in the form of sub-freezing temperatures this very night as lows dip into the middle 20s for even the southern half of the state. Could this kill the beautiful flowers that have exploded into bloom the last few days across my region? Well, I doubt it, but it still is a concern that I am watching out for. After tonight, though, lows should dip no lower than the 30s and 40s statewide for at least the next 10 days. So that's about all I have for ya'll for now, so hope ya'll have a great rest of your evening and I'll talk to ya'll later! Remember, winter is done, spring has sprung, and the warmth is coming like a flaming tongue! This is Junior Meteorologist (Storm Tracker) Kyle Elliott reporting for the AKStormtracker Forecasting Center!
