Daily Weather Pattern Discussion...Bonified Blizzard This Friday/Saturday?
Hello this is Junior Meteorologist Kyle Elliott with our daily weather pattern discussion...and could it possibly be that the state sees a bonified blizzard this coming Friday and/or Saturday? Well right now, most forecasts say it will be warm, but many models forecast a blizzard...and guess what, I now think blizzard! Maybe I'm crazy, but all the signs point to a snowstorm for the East Coast with the NAO heading down in the tank along with the Greenland Block starting to set up. Also, a cold front should push through the East Coast before the storm rides north along the coast, firmly locking in the cold air across the Mid-Atlantic which will set the stage for a possible snowstorm. Before that, though, enjoy more springlike air as after tomorrow and Monday, warmer weather will be in store for the region by Tuesday and Wednesday...with temperatures reaching the 50s statewide and possibly even 60s/70s by Thursday. Don't let your guard down, though, as the cold will pay us another visit Friday night and, either way you slice it, I think we will have to deal with a storm even if it is all rain and flooding again. But honestly, all the signs point toward snow, and I once again have a feeling we finally may see the snow that we've all been waiting for! And even if we see rain out of that storm, there appears to be another one on its tail that could be even bigger and more likely to produce snow as the NAO should be solidly negative along with a strong Greenland Block. So we will have to wait and see how this all plays out, but that's about all I have for now, so hope ya'll have a great night and stay warm through tomorrow night!
