My Forecast For The Second Half Of May...Summer Will Come!
Hello this is Junior Meteorologist Kyle Elliott with my forecast for the second half of this month...and trust me, sooner or later, summer will come this month as the pattern appears to be shifting as I speak. So, just as I did on May 1, I will take ya'll through the next two weeks of my forecast day by day, giving you my outlook for temperatures and precipitation. Tomorrow should start out sunny, but with instability and a cold front coming in from the northwest, clouds should build and isolated hailers should develop by late in the afternoon as highs reach the 60s and 70s statewide. On Sunday, another disturbance will pinwheel around the big trough in place over our area and provide us with another chance of rain and thunderstorms as temperatures continue to run below averages in the upper 50s to upper 60s. On Monday, a temporary drying might take place as highs reach the 60s over the majority of the state. Tuesday most likely will also by dry with highs again in the 60s statewide. By Wednesday, the pattern should begin to shift as the big ridge in the West begins to break down and move toward the East Coast. Wednesday could bring rain to the region with a warm frontal passage as highs again hold in the 60s statewide. On Thursday, the tide should turn though as sunshine will unfold across the southern half of Pennsylvania with highs possible reaching the 80s. Farther north, the warm front will stall as rain lingers holding temperatures much lower in the 60s. By Friday, though, the entire state should be partly cloudy, hot, and humid with highs in the upper 70s to middle 80s statwide. Saturday should bring more of the same before another storm system moves into the region on Sunday with highs both days in the 70s and 80s. After that, Monday through Wednesday of that week should feature mostly sunny skies with highs statewide in the 70s. By Thursday and Friday the 29th and 30th of the month, a summer-like ridge may take hold in the region and bring lower to middle 80s back across the majority of the state. So that's the way I think things will unfold for the next half of the month, so hope ya'll have a great rest of your month and I'll talk to ya'll on the first day of hurricane season: June 1st! This is Junior Meteorologist (Storm Tracker) Kyle Elliott reporting for the AKStormtracker Forecasting Center!
